Business security cameras in Winkler and southern Manitoba that tell you what happened

See what happened, where, and who was there. Not just that something happened. We design it on a free site walk, install it ourselves, and support it afterward.

What we install, and what it does for you

An alert tells you something happened. A well-designed camera system tells you what, where, and who, and gives you the footage to act on it.

What we install

Cameras at entries, yards, and the spots you can’t see from your office. Recording on site or in the cloud. Live and recorded video on your phone and desktop.

What it can do

  • Tell a person or vehicle from an animal, so you’re not woken up for nothing
  • Read licence plates at gates and lot entrances
  • Alert you when a vehicle enters or leaves after hours
  • Count traffic through a door or lane
  • Pull up any moment from the last several weeks in seconds

Example

A yard in Morden where tools walk off overnight. Cameras cover the gate and the storage area, a plate reader sits at the entrance, and the owner’s phone gets an alert when anything moves after close.

Vehicle
Alert you when a vehicle enters or leaves after hours.

What does it cost?

Four cameras, recorder, and phone viewing start at $1,775 installed; add cloud storage and it starts at $2,075. Canadian dollars, before tax, standard conditions. See all starting prices and what moves them.

Problems to know about before you buy

  • Cloud recording has a monthly fee that runs for as long as you keep the plan.
  • An on-site recorder can be stolen or smashed along with everything else in the building.
  • Cheap cameras lose detail at night. A face or a plate that is clear at noon can be a blur after dark.
  • Wireless cameras drop out in metal buildings, and a lot of shops and farm buildings here are steel.
  • If the internet is down and there is no local storage, nothing gets recorded.

Which option is right for me?

Should I record on site or in the cloud?

On site

Pick it if you want no monthly fee and you have a locked, hidden spot for the recorder.

Cloud

Pick it if the footage has to survive a break-in, or you run more than one location.

What we usually recommend: We often suggest recording on site with a cloud copy of the key cameras, so a stolen recorder doesn’t take the evidence with it. Should I record on site or in the cloud?

Wired or wireless cameras?

Wired

Pick it wherever a cable can reach. One cable carries power and video, and it keeps working through steel walls.

Wireless

Pick it for a spot a cable can’t reach, like a far fence line or a second building across the yard.

What we usually recommend: We wire every camera we can, because a wired camera is the one still recording when you need it.

Common questions

Do security cameras work in Manitoba winters?

Yes. A rated outdoor camera keeps working well below minus 40. What usually fails is the housing or the spot where the cable goes in, so we choose those for our climate too. Why do security cameras fail in Manitoba winters?

Can I record my employees or customers in Manitoba?

Yes, within limits set by federal privacy law. We go through those limits with you on the site walk. Can I record my employees or customers in Manitoba?

Why does a farm cost more than a shop in town?

Mostly distance. A farm near Carman can have buildings hundreds of metres apart, so long cable runs or wireless links between them add to the price. What's the best security setup for a farm or ag operation?
